It’s official: Ed Sheeran’s bromance with James Blunt is being taken on the road.
Sheeran announced early Monday (March 20) that his British buddy will serve as the opening act for his North American tour, which kicks off in Kansas City on June 29. “Happy to announce my opening act on my North American tour is @jamesblunt x,” Sheeran wrote in a tweet.
Blunt and Sheeran spent some quality time together during the “Shape of You” singer’s year hiatus, also teaming up for one of Blunt’s new songs titled “Make Me Better” (which Blunt dropped the same day as Sheeran’s Divide release). They also shared the stage when Blunt presented Sheeran with the Goldene Kamera award for best international music in Hamburg, Germany, on March 4.
Sheeran, who has already embarked on his European tour, will hit 48 cities on his North American trek, ending in Nashville on October 7. Due to overwhelming demand of tickets, Sheeran recently added 11 more shows to the North American tour (in cities where he was already scheduled to perform), which he announced on his website.
