Jimmy Fallon’s ‘Tonight Show’ Donates $1 Million To J.J. Watt’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

Jimmy Fallon has announced that his Tonight Show is giving $1 million to the Hurricane Harvey relief fund organized by Houston Texans star J.J. Watt, which at press time has raised more than $20 million.

“Last week we saw the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey on the state of Texas,” Fallon says in a preview clip from Tuesday night’s (Sept. 5) show. “But in the face of this tragedy, we saw good. We saw communities banding together.”

“Neighbors helping neighbors,” he says. “Strangers helping strangers. So many heroes — people like Mattress Mack, who opened up his stores and showrooms for those who needed shelter… The group of people who formed a human chain to save a man from a flooded SUV… And J.J. Watt from the Houston Texans, who has raised over $18 million dollars to provide food, water, and supplies to the victims.”

“And I’m proud to say that our show, The Tonight Show, is donating $1 million dollars to J.J.’s fund,” Fallon confirms.

The late-night host then introduces singers Victoria White and Marquist Taylor, along with their Houston Gospel Choir, to perform “Lean on Me,” “dedicated to all the heroes in Houston who did whatever they could to help.”

Watch the clip below, and catch it on The Tonight Show at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
