Mixtape Mondays Ft. Lotus, Dan Bettridge, JAMO, Shmuck The Loyal, OPVS & Poles

It’s Monday again…and I don’t know about you but my weekend sucked. I woke up on Friday morning to my car, Marshall, being straight stolen…I might’ve named my white Toyota Rav4 after Eminem (which years ago had an excessively loud 12in sub).  But anyways here are some of the tunes i’ve been abusing to try and feel better.

It’s early and part of me thinks that if I look off my balcony I’ll see my car..I guess you could say I am still in denial.  So this is when I need the pick me up that Lotus so perfectly provides with his remix of San Holo’s ‘I Still See Your Face’. Man what a lucky little find with soft snaps, light guitar, and vibey synths the music will start to breath life into your body as you wake up, putting you in a good mindset to get the day started right.

I’m still not feeling the energy tho and sad still because, well,  I miss Marshall. So I needed another track to let me get a little bit of sulking out and this one just felt right. With Dan’s comforting voice and minimal beat, this track will let you reflect and reset yourself. Part of me wants to ‘Blame’ myself for what happened. But sometimes life delivers you challenges you have no control over and we have to learn and grow with them. Put your energy into the good and let go of the bad, because at the end of the day it’s going to be ok.

“…with very honest lyrics about my view of myself as a partner and on a larger scale, the view of someone being involved with another who is constantly on the road or often absent.” -Dan

After that one I decided that was enough and started sending out an ‘SOS’ for some uplifting tunes and JAMO was there to deliver, giving me the energy needed to finally get moving. With the classic four on the floor beat, along with tropical lovin synths, and a catchy top line, breakfast will be more fun than ever.

Ok so i’m walking to the bus since now that is my method of transportation and I may be a little angry, but also have a lot on my mind. So Shmuck the Loyal comes in to deliver me with a minimal beat but a bass heavy hitter. ‘Slipping’ not only gets me charged up for the day but also to gives me enough headspace to think about what I have ahead of me. It also makes me feel like I could spit some sort of aggressive rap…but i’ll save that for the shower.

Ah and now something peaceful to sway to as I make my way to town. Khai’s voice has my mind at ease as delicate percussion and energetic mallets keep my spirits high. This Poles remix will be something you want to keep in your arsenal for when you’re looking to feel something too.

SO, as I reflect on last week and what needs to be accomplished this week I come to realize that material things can always be replaced, however the loved ones in your life whether its family, friends, or even your pets, can’t be. It breathes a certain sense of comfort into me as I look at all the people who have extended their hand out to help me. So my lesson to you this Monday is that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and when you feel like you don’t have anything, there are people out there who love you and would do anything for you. There will always be bad people in the world, but with a little love, a little music, and a little time, we will all be alright.

Check back next Monday for more tunes to dive into, oh and enjoy this OPVS bonus track below 🙂

Michael Push’s Glossy Music Video For ‘Tell Me Why’ Perfect For Nearing Spring

Tune Collective Staff

Michael Push’s song ‘Tell Me Why’ featuring Stevie imparts a vibe of tranquil vacation. The song shouts summer, and more specifically, summer love. With airy vocals by Stevie, longing lyrics, and a fun, groovy beat that one can’t help but to dance to, or at least tap their toes to, the song is an anthem to longboards everywhere! The tropical drums make for a very sunkissed feeling when listening, and the whole thing is uplifting. The lovelorn lyrics of Stevie contrast highly with the light feel of the instrumentals. It’s a quintessential summer jam to play at any party, or get-together, that will put everyone in a carefree, extroverted mood.
