Published

on

Pop artist on the rise Phil Crown isn’t necessarily a new face to the music scene; currently residing in Oakland, California, he has been producing behind the scenes for many notable artists over the last few years. Now, Phil is stepping into the spotlight and releasing his debut EP next month; he just dropped the first single off the upcoming ‘Desert Son’ EP, “Pick Up The Phone.”

“Pick Up The Phone” is a dance-infused pop song that captures the struggle a girl has when she’s feeling stuck in a moment of her life, not going anywhere.

Phil Crown explains the lyrics, “Pick Up The Phone is a metaphor to tell her to start making something of herself. Like a wake up call, ‘tell me how you want it’ and I can give it to you, as soon as you’re ready to listen.”

The first track off his debut album is a release in collaboration with Machat Records in association with Hippos and Tanks.

While most aspiring singers have a notable contemporary artist they looked to for inspiration, Farrah looked to a song from the 1959 animated feature film, “Sleeping Beauty” called “Once Upon a Dream,” an operatic display of Disney enchantment. This lead to her singing jazz and opera in her teen years, ultimately Farrah found her voice in pop music, combining the melodic romance of her fairy-tale days with an edgy emo backing track. Some of the artist that inspire Farrah are Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse.

Farrah’s debut EP entitled “Farrah Please”, is a perfect mix of both uptempo Pop rhythms, downtempo emo vibes, with a dash of of tropical and EDM tones. Flying from her lips and crashing into your eardrums, “Farrah Please” was released to all streaming platforms December 21st 2017.

Underneath the layers, Farrah hopes to inspire everyone who hears her album, to feel as deeply and love as strongly and passionately as she does.

Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter—JOSEPHINE—releases the “Friends.” The single is the first of two tracks slated to drop before her second EP, Chasing High (due out this summer). The light-hearted track meshes together elements of indie-pop and R&B, symbolizing the simplicity of romance at a young age.

Josephine on “Friends”:

“I wrote ‘Friends’ about my best friend, a guy, who I was in love with. Most of my songs come from an autobiographical place and imagination mixed with melodramatic exaggeration – but this song was the most literal song I’ve written. It really encapsulates this relationship that I just felt so backwards in. You always hear about girls friend-zoning guys but rarely do you hear about it being the other way around..”
