Mixtape Mondays Ft. Melis, Medasin, NAUUDA, TRAILS & Joe Mason

Oh s#*$ it’s Monday again and this one snuck up on me quick. With so many things going on from week to week its hard to always be on time, but don’t get me wrong the music line up this week may just be one of the strongest yet.

First up to bat is the beautiful Melis and her new Parallels EP. This girl is a lyrical genius with melodies that will move you and music you can feel to. Since it’s later in the day this EP is that perfect thing to unwind with. Grab that wine bottle and draw a bath…I’m going in.

I swear everything Medasin touches turns to gold…and if you don’t know who he is then you better learn…and do it quick. Medasin takes ‘Will He’ and gives it a complete face lift. Turning a once dark track into a rather blissful and almost jazzy tune. I actually saw a comment on Soundcloud saying “this that shit i want to hear when i go underwater at a hotel swimming pool” and I kinda agree…but I’m just going under in the tub with the Jambox blasting. Same difference right?

Well that was refreshing. So you may want to be out of the bath by now or there may be too many waves from sudden dance moves on this one. Never heard of NAUUDA before but they snagged a new spot on my likes this week with this little ‘party’ number. This song is funky fresh from its sweet synths to the on point vocal chops that dance through the whole song. Drying off has never been so fun.

Yooo guys!!! TRAILS has been laying low for a while but FINALLY he graces us with another banger. Its like alt rock meets electronic music in the best way and will have you standing on the table probably still naked playing the air guitar…but who cares my house my rules. But you know fair warning of the symptoms before you just start looking a fool where ever you may be. I may or may not have listened to this on repeat…for a while….

Throw back time. Boy was it an awesome surprise to see a Kanye ‘Power’ remix come out a couple of days ago. Once you listen it will take you back to 2010 but add in a lot more head banging…like a lot more. The perfect song to both sing all the words to and dance it out, the perfect prescription for a bad day.

So my friends cheers to making it another week. I will be honest today has been really hard. My poor fur baby is in the hospital over night because he hasn’t been doing so hot. But once again just getting to sit here with you guys and talk about music is the remedy I have been looking for. Getting to dive into new track, digest and devour them is what I live for. Music is my prescription. And I order you to take it daily.

Blaxtork Drops Jungle-Jersey Bass Single ‘Tropic’

Jersey bass and jungle terror are at a crossroads thanks to Blaxtork’s new single ‘Tropic.’ The song falls somewhere between what you would hear on a Mad Decent release and a Rawtek sound, falling into a unique new space and captured by strong song arrangement. Blaxtork’s hyper-detailed single doesn’t spare a moment, a feet shuffling groove present from start to finish. Blaxtork has a plenty of music plans for 2018, ‘Tropic’ acting as a teaser for what is to come.

Dope D.O.D.)’ a tribal/eastern themed original that slaps with swiftness. Apashe’s record has been high-quality banger after banger in 2017, ‘Supernova’ is no different and is apart of a bigger picture as to why Apashe is swinging int 2018 strong.

Disco Fries Release Inventive 8-Track EP ‘DF’

Disco Fries styles a hefty balance of familiarity and surprise with DF, the new EP contains 4 singles already released alongside 4 brand-new tracks. With the album art and refreshed sound, Disco Fries maintain their rooted-happy-go-lucky and uplifting feel but boast a modern update that fits comfortably with the times. Disco Fries has been a long-standing act in dance music and continues to stay plugged in. Here’s a recent quote that gives a glimpse into their perspective.

‘Over the past two years we’ve been working on a ton of music that we haven’t released. We’d jump styles, genres, and sound sets every couple of months and after a while we finally decided that it was the best reflection of who we are. We’re not one-dimensional artists so there was no reason to release an album of stuff that all sounded similar. DF encompasses everything that influences us and makes us creatively tick as the Disco Fries.’
